Periodontal disease

Periodontal disease is an infectious disease caused by bacteria in the mouth with deposit around and below the gums damaging the tissue supporting the teeth, called periodontium.
The main symptoms are:

• Tooth mobility.
• Bleeding gums.
• Halitosis (bad breath).
• Increased tooth sensitivity
• The opening of spaces between the teeth.

Other factors that increase the risk of developing periodontal disease, apart from poor oral hygiene are:

• Smoking tobacco
• Malnutrition
• Stress
• Pregnancy
